CCNZ made a submission on the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's stage one consultation on lifting the resilience of New Zealand’s critical infrastructure.
The submission noted the absence of construction from the consultation paper, called for the focus of infrastructure construction to shift towards whole of life value instead of upfront cost, and the need for a stable pipeline of funded projects and maintenance initiatives.
The submission also called for more early contractor involvement in project design, the need for partnerships to include the constructor, and the need for better management of emergencies and disaster response by a well-managed government agency.
