Last year, we took some steps to address the perception that New Zealand's borders were closed for business to international talent, leading to the creation of a storyteller toolkit highlighting the reasons that bring migrants to New Zealand.
This recruitment storyteller project is a collaboration between Civil Contractors NZ, ACE New Zealand, Master Builders, New Zealand Institute of Architects, and the New Zealand Construction Industry Council (represented by Master Plumbers). working with the New Zealand Story (with funding support from the Construction Sector Accord).
The toolkit comprises a set of targeted videos, social media and digital banners, messages, and case studies to use when recruiting people particularly from the US, UK-Ireland, Canada, South Africa, and Asia.

You can see more options for using these resources, below. If you have any questions, or any feedback on the initiative, please contact CCNZ Chief Executive Alan Pollard directly at alan@civilcontractors.co.nz.
Using the Recruitment Storyteller toolkit
The resources can be downloaded free of charge by individual members who may wish to use them to support their own recruitment campaigns, or by our recruitment partners to complement their campaigns often in partnership with other in-market recruitment partners.
There are three ways members can use the assets:
1. Individual activation
Members can download the assets themselves and use them in their own marketing campaigns.
2. Targeted activation with preferred recruitment partner
Members can use the Recruitment Storyteller assets and work with your preferred recruitment specialist to attract international talent.
3. Centralised activation
The other associations have partnered with HainesAttract to set up a centralised recruitment campaign. They will use the Recruitment Storyteller toolkit to purchase media on the employers behalf and drive online traffic to a newly created website buildyourfuturenz.com where jobs will be posted.
CCNZ members and our preferred recruiters can also partner with HainesAttract on this initiative if they choose, but there are costs associated with doing so and the output will be tightly controlled by Haines. For these reasons, it is more likely our members will partner with the preferred recruiters mentioned in point 2 above, who may have more experience in the civil construction sector. We are investigating how this campaign may tie in with our EPIC Careers in Infrastructure platform and existing recruitment associates.

It is important that, if you use the assets, you will keep a record of doing so and also note the impact of the campaign with your recruitment efforts.
