A safe and successful CCNZ BOP Fishing Tournament has been ticked off for another year, with fishing confined to the harbour on Saturday due to the conditions. No record breakers but plenty of fillets to put on the table.
The poor weather conditions gave us a smaller than usual field of 50+ anglers including some keen kids. A couple of crews made the trip from Hawkes Bay, despite the terrible forecast, and both boats were well rewarded with a big prize haul. Thank you to all the anglers who supported the competition despite the weather.
Thanks to Mike Lenihan and Phil Eynon for their efforts in organising this tournament, including working with the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club to ensure the safety of our anglers, securing boat spots for anglers, purchasing the fishing prizes on behalf of our sponsors, organising the breakfast packs for each boat and generally just getting everyone involved and creating a family friendly atmosphere.Great job guys!
To our sponsors/supporters, thank you so much for supporting the competition whether in funds to covers costs, prizes and/or with your valuable time. We had a fantastic range of prizes to hand out and no one left empty-handed. We endeavoured with our signage and MCing, at both the briefing and prize giving, to fully acknowledge your support. Thanks to Bruce Mack for your lively MCing 🙂
Below is a photo of the prize table on Friday afternoon (there were additional prizes delivered after this was taken) and a pic of some of our happy anglers with their prizes.
Thanks again to all of you for helping create a fantastic event and we look forward to working with you again on next years tournament.
Joel Hodgson took out the Mimico Early Anglers draw to win an impressive rod and reel set.
The Hard Luck Story of the day had their dramas ease with a prize from Sharp Tudhope Lawyers of a top notch rod and reel set.
