New appointments bring experience and expertise to Executive Council

05 Aug 2021

Andrew Spittal, Jeremy Dixon and Orla Gallagher have been appointed to the CCNZ Executive Council following the Annual General Meeting on 29 July, replacing James Craw, Colin Calteaux and Stephen Delaney. Gary Richardson was re-elected as Associate Councillor following the end of his previous term of office.

Andrew Spittal has owned Nelson-based Ching Contracting for the past 27 years, and has a long history of involvement with CCNZ. He previously served as CCNZ Nelson Marlborough Branch Chair and was a founding member of the Civil Trades Board. Andrew has a wealth of experience as a Director, and also set up Trench Shoring NZ to address the need for better protection of workers when trenching.

Jeremy Dixon is currently Chief Executive of Isaac Construction, a South Island-based infrastructure construction company with around 350 staff. Jeremy has been in the industry since he was 17. He has gone to his current role from pushing a wheelbarrow, and experienced everything in between on the way. He is a past Branch Chair of CCNZ Canterbury Westland Branch, and strongly believes in the positive impact the civil and infrastructure construction industry can have for the country.

Orla Gallagher is currently the National Environmental & Sustainability Manager for Higgins, and has worked for infrastructure companies in Ireland, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Her role with Higgins encompasses all environmental compliance and sustainability , as well as leading carbon reductions plans across the Fletcher Construction group. Orla is a qualified environmental engineer and environmental scientist and leads a diverse team of people across New Zealand and Fiji.

James Craw, Colin Calteaux and Stephen Delaney did not stand for re-election following the expiry of their terms of office. Colin is Managing Director of Andrew Haulage 2011 Ltd in Balclutha, and the father of two-time National Excavator Operator Competition Champion Troy Calteaux. James is Director of South Island company JCL Asphalt, and Stephen is Operations Manager - North Island for McConnell Dowell. CCNZ thanks Colin, James and Stephen for their service to the association, providing clear direction through the global pandemic and input into how best to navigate the many other challenges and opportunities faced by the civil construction industry in their time on the Executive Council.
