CCNZ made a submission on Immigration New Zealand's future of the Skilled Migrant visa category consultation.
The submission provided detailed feedback on the changes to the visa category proposed by Immigration New Zealand.
The submission called for more flexibility in the system. It also called for a shift in mindset to support recruitment of skilled people from across the globe who could make a positive contribution to NZ's infrastructure construction industry, and raised concerns the proposed changes to simplify the system based on qualification and professional registration would have unforeseen consequences, such as preventing some skilled people from entering the country in cases where the system is not well set up to recognise the trade skills required for the physical construction of infrastructure.
