CCNZ has composed a draft submission on the Emergency Management Bill, which is open for consultation until 3 February.
The submission built on past CCNZ feedback on the emergency management system, exploring the need for increased recognition of the role contractors play in emergency response and recovery, providing for rapid mobilisation and response, ensuring legal and financial protection for contractors acting in good faith to save lives or property, emergency powers and reviewing the importance of community and sector engagement.
The submission also proposed clauses that could be incorporated into emergency management legislation to better achieve these things and codify the role of civil contractors in emergency response. If you would like to inform the CCNZ submission, please contact CCNZ Communications and Advocacy Manager Fraser May.
