Civil construction excellence took centre stage on Friday night at the Civil Contractors New Zealand Canterbury Westland Hynds and Tech5 Recruitment Contractor of the Year Awards 2025, held at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre.

🏌️‍♂️ What a day! We had an incredible turnout, some impressive shots (and a few creative excuses 😅), and most importantly – we raised fantastic funds (still tallying up the total) for Mates in Construction, Ronald McDonald HRonald McDonald House South Island, and Multiple Sclerosis Canterbury.

Timaru local Sam Burleigh secured the title of Canterbury Westland’s top excavator operator after winning the Civil Contractors New Zealand Canterbury Westland CablePrice Excavator Competition at the Road Metals Quarry in Rolleston on Saturday.

Mark Morley Crowned Champion at Inaugural NZ Cat Global Operator Challenge

The first-ever Cat Global Operator Challenge in New Zealand was held at Wheels in Wanaka, where top machinery operators competed. Greymouth’s Mark Morley from MBD Contracting emerged as the NZ Champion after a fierce final.

CCNZ & IOQ Chairty Golf Day raises $26,400

It was a fantastic day for a great cause, with over 30 teams of four competing and raising an incredible $26,600. The funds were divided and donated to three deserving charities.

Christchurch local Georgia Lyford has been crowned the queen of Canterbury Westland digger operators after winning the region’s annual excavator operator competition at the Road Metals Quarry in Rolleston on Saturday.

Supreme Contractor of the Year Announced

The CCNZ Canterbury Westland Contractor of the Year Awards were held at Te Pae Convention Centre in the heart of Christchurch on the 10th of November 2023, with a sold out event of 380 attendees, 24 award recipients, a master MC, Justine Smith who entertained the crowd and to finish off the night with a good old boogie with the band The D'sendantz.
