The Bombay Commercial Vehicle Centre is one of 12 inspection centers being constructed across New Zealand. Using weigh-in-motion technology embedded in the Motorway, trucks will be flagged and asked to pull off the motorway to be physically weighed and inspected at the facility. This is part of an overall programme to improve compliance in trucking practices across NZ.
Downer are currently constructing large terramesh walls, and are working on the inspection pit and weighbridge on site.
During the site visit, we’ll discuss the large earthworks aspects, the environmental considerations and how we have approached the drainage works. Additionally we will discuss the interface and handover process with the building subcontractor that will be completing the on-site building. We have a solar powered site office and water tanks to catch rain water, so we will talk about our drivers for sustainability and how we are trying to make a difference.
