Civil contractors work on, under and around the roading network and other locations where traffic needs to be managed. Temporary traffic management protects people moving around work sites, as well as people working on them. Civil Contractors New Zealand’s members work at the forefront of temporary traffic management, and the association works to pool knowledge on good practice and share this with the industry.

Protecting Vulnerable Road Users in TTM Environments

Civil Contractors New Zealand has published a Practice Note developed to assist clients, contractors and designers in protecting vulnerable road users around TTM sites.

Created as part of an enforceable undertaking following the death of a cyclist on a road work site, this Practice Note explores the protection of vulnerable road users in TTM environments. It is published in seven parts for different audiences, ranging from the general public and road controlling authorities, to contractors, designers, and field staff.

Temporary Traffic Management Industry Steering Group

Civil Contractors New Zealand represents civil contractors on the Temporary Traffic Management Industry Steering Group, which was formed in 2023 to support the temporary traffic management industry through a transition in the way we plan and deliver traffic management, as the country moves from a compliance-based approach to the more risk-based approach described in the New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM).
