Entries are open to all financial members of the Wellington Wairarapa Branch, Civil Contractors NZ. All projects entered must have been completed within the last 12 months at the date of entry. Contracts must have been completed, with completion certificates, by closing date of entries. 

Judging Process

  • The submissions are assessed by the judges who will then conduct site visits.
  • Following the site visits the judges will select the winner.
  • The entry documentation influences but does not determine the outcome.
  • The finalists all attend the Wellington Wairarapa Branch Annual Gala and Construction Awards on August 29, 2026 at Te Papa, where the winners of each category will be announced.

Eligibility

  1. Any project that has achieved practical completion within the past 12 months (or which will achieve practical completion on or before July 24, 2026)
  2. Entrants must include in their submission:
    1. Project details such as start and end date and value.
    2. Project summary.
    3. A copy of the Certificate of Practical Completion for the project.
    4. Evidence of client satisfaction in writing, demonstrated by a letter/email from the client.
    5. A selection of five high resolution photographs are to be uploaded. These photographs will be used for the awards presentations and awards booklet.
    6. Entries need to clearly show who the entrants are, regardless of the submission being individual or joint.
    7. Entries should indicate any commercially sensitive information that should not be published.

To give the judges a good overview of the project you are submitting please describe:

  • Why you are entering this project?
  • What makes this project special?
  • Why you believe that this project should win the award?

Risks and Challenges (25%)

Describe the project, the unusual site conditions or constraints, and the key risks or challenges identified. Explain the systems and planning that went into addressing these areas.

Describe how construction and risk factors were managed, this could include; Site Factors/Ground or Physical & Climate Conditions, Health and Safety, Efficiency (Budget/Timeliness) Environmental, Contract Conditions, Other, e.g. Redesign

What were the key milestones or achievements reached during the construction phase, and how did your team overcome any obstacles or setbacks?


Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental & Innovation (25%)

What were the key learnings and successes of the project?

Describe how you and your team managed:

  • Sustainability and environmental considerations
  • Safety management and risk mitigation 
  • Quality assurance

What innovative techniques, materials, or technologies did your project utilise to achieve its goals (if any)?

Describe the relationships, how they were managed and how any impacts were mitigated. Include:
