The employment relationship is a keystone of New Zealand society, impacting on every facet of our lives (business, personal, and family, social, economic). The importance of successful and ongoing employment relationships is, perhaps, emphasised by the constant development of employment law both by the courts and parliament.

The most significant recent developments in employment law have been the Employment Relations Amendment Act 2018 and the Domestic Violence – Victims’ Protection Act 2018.

This Guide has been produced to assist employers with their employment relationship responsibilities.

Our organisation

Civil Contractors New Zealand gives members the opportunity to have their views heard and their interests represented at both local and national levels. At the local level, all members belong to one or more of CCNZ’s 14 branches. At the national level, all members can attend the annual conference. All branches are represented on CCNZ’s General Council which meets annually.
