Auckland Branch SME Event: Navigating Turbulent Times

CCNZ Auckland Branch invites contractors who own and/or lead small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) to our upcoming "Navigating Turbulent Times" event!

It is no secret that 2024 has been challenging and complex for our industry. This event is designed to bring together SME business owners and leaders, to discuss strategies to improve financial management when running your own civil contracting business.

Event Overview:

We have partnered with The Icehouse to deliver an event focussed on how to navigate turbulent times, with particular emphasis on financial management, cashflow, managing suppliers and funding strategies.

The evening will begin with networking with other SME owners and leaders (drinks and pizza provided), followed by a panel discussion where experts provide personal insights from their experience, rounding out with a Q&A session.

Panellists:

• Patrick Stevens is the Chief Financial Officer at CB Civil. CB Civil has grown into a key player in the water and infrastructure space over the last five years. They have a large self-performing team (~150) and the ability to take on some seriously tricky jobs! Patrick is a CA and brings a wide range of experience from different industries. He has now been with CB Civil for five years.

• Nick Innes-Jones is a Partner at BDO and runs the BDO Construction practice. He has many contractor clients across civil and vertical construction. Nick has a great view of the economics and financials of the sector. He also recently completed the BDO Annual Construction Survey and has a wealth of intel from this that can be drawn upon. • Peter Goldsmith is a Director at J&R Contracting and a long-time CCNZ Auckland Branch Committee member. J&R Contracting has a team of about 65 and has been in business since 1995, specializing in directional drilling and open trenches across power, 3-waters, telecom, etc. They have seen it all.

• MC: Liz Wotherspoon, Head of Customer Solutions at The Icehouse.
