Upper Hutt’s Ben Jones was named the Wellington and Wairarapa region’s champion excavator operator following a battle of earth, steel and wits at the Civil Contractors New Zealand CablePrice Regional Excavator Operator Competition on Saturday 29 February.

Top Wellington civil construction projects named

The Wellington region’s top civil construction projects of the year were named on Saturday, featuring an innovative pump station and rising water main eight metres under a city street, renewals to the city’s wastewater systems and erosion protection at a Judgeford stream.

Wellington finds its champion excavator operator

Blair Hartle was named the Wellington / Wairarapa region’s top excavator operator following a close-fought Regional Excavator Operator Competition held at the Upper Hutt Summer Carnival at Trentham Memorial Park on Saturday.
