Held at the Norwood Room at Wellington's famous Basin Reserve, this free half-day workshop held the day prior to The Contractors Conference 2021 will explore the ways NZ's civil construction industry and its supporters can help people join the workforce.
Established by Civil Contractors New Zealand and supported by the Ministry of Social Development and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the Civil Workforce Forum provides an avenue for NZ's civil construction companies to discuss and evolve the pathways to employment for people looking to join the industry.
This event will feature presentations on some of the major changes the industry has ahead, including the Connexis transition and the Reform of Vocational Education, as well as some of the solutions, including contractor-designed foundation skills programmes. These entry points will then be workshopped to set the industry position and gauge response to what's coming up.
The Forum will initially focus on how the industry gets people to the start line and be employed, and how the industry helps them get the skills they need to start work, whether this be through ‘industry induction’ or pre-trades training.
