Hirepool received the first CCNZ Major Associate Award, which was presented during the Civil Contractors New Zealand National Conference in Rotorua on 2 August.

CCNZ Chief Executive Peter Silcock said the Hirepool team deserved recognition for supporting events and initiatives that benefit contractors at branch and national level.

“Hirepool is a deserving recipient of our inaugural Major Associate Award, having supported civil construction for more than 60 years, and acted as CCNZ’s Principal Business Partner for the past 15 years.

“They sponsor our national Construction Excellence Awards, they are a major sponsor at our Conference, a sliver sponsor of our Excavator Competition and provide funding for events in every branch as our Principal Business Partner.”

CCNZ has almost 50 major associate members – companies that supply goods and services to contractor members. Mr Silcock said it was essential to recognise these businesses as their valuable equipment and support, enabled contractors to build and maintain New Zealand’s infrastructure.

He said the decision-making factor was Hirepool’s ‘fantastic’ support for communities across New Zealand, sponsoring Sustainable Coastlines and the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust.

The process behind the Award

Over a period of six weeks, CCNZ asked each Branch to nominate up to two companies for the CCNZ Major Associate Award based on three criteria:

1. Outstanding service to the civil construction industry

2. Exceptional support and involvement in CCNZ at both branch and national level

3. Community service

The CCNZ Executive Council received and considered the nominations. Mr Silcock commended the other Major Associate and Core Associate members nominated for the award, and commended them on their excellent service, amazing innovations, and the fantastic job they did for CCNZ members and their communities every day.
