Civil Contractors New Zealand operates awards programmes to recognise excellence in construction, training programmes and people.
The national Hirepool Construction Excellence Awards, Connexis Company Awards and Z People Awards are hosted at the annual conference each year, while regional branches often host their own awards programmes to recognise excellence in their local regions.
The 2019 CCNZ National Awards are now open for entries using our online portal. Enter now and give your projects, people and training initiatives the recognition they deserve.

The award categories are:
The Hirepool Construction Excellence Awards
First presented in 1978, these awards recognise the year’s top civil construction projects. Sponsored by Hirepool, the awards are presented annually at the CCNZ Hirepool Construction Excellence Awards Dinner.
Projects with a value of less than $5m – companies with an annual turnover of less than $10m.
Projects with a value of less than $5m – companies with an annual turnover greater than $10m.
Projects with a value between $5m and $10m.
Projects with a value between $20m and $100m.
Projects with a value greater than $100m.
Excellence in the maintenance and management of assets. This category is for companies who have shown excellence in the maintenance of assets such as waterways, roading networks, energy networks, forestry infrastructure or water systems across new Zealand.
The Z People Awards
The Z People Awards recognise the achievements of civil construction industry leaders and people who are committed to personal and professional development in the industry. The awards are presented at the Z Luncheon at CCNZ Conference.
Z Emerging Leader Award
Open to individuals under the age of 30 (as at Friday 31 May 2019) who have shown outstanding leadership in their work. These individuals are nominated by a colleague, manager or mentor, and must have been employed in the civil construction industry by a CCNZ contractor member for at least 12 months.
Z Personal Improvement Award
Open to individuals who can demonstrate outstanding commitment to training and development who have worked in the civil construction industry for at least 12 months and are employed by a CCNZ contractor member.
The Connexis Company Training Awards
The Connexis Company Training Awards recognise employers that have demonstrated commitment to developing staff and providing them with opportunities to gain skills and knowledge through nationally recognised qualifications.
Up to $10m turnover
Open to NZ-registered companies with outstanding training initiatives and under $10m annual turnover.
Between $10m and $100m turnover
Open to NZ-registered companies with outstanding training initiatives and between $10m and $100m annual turnover.
More than $100m turnover and alliance projects
Open to NZ-registered companies with outstanding training initiatives and more than $100m annual turnover/working in a major alliance project.
